''‘Wings of Love’ is a C.D. that contains
the essence of my spiritual journey.
Indeed each track is a stepping-stone on an adventure
that took me overseas to Canada and South America
before bringing me back to Aotearoa with new eyes
and a heart filled with love for my home.''

SASHA'S ORIGINAL SONGS

CD ''Wings of Love''

by Sasha Witten-Hannah

Sasha reflects the spirit of love, harmony and beauty in everything he does. 'Wings of Love', is an original collection of Sasha's own songs reflecting the angellic realms and the spiritual journey. It is a delight to listen to.

His voice is an inspiration of hope and reawakening to the angelic realms. This CD is ideal listening for healing and times of gentle reflection with songs that express the feelings of genuine tenderness we share with each other.

Album Tracks:

The Angels Calling (Track 1), Believe (Track 10)

‘The Angels Calling’ was inspired by the tears of a friend who was listening to me play the classical guitar. She had had many horrible experiences in her life and was used to holding it all inside. The music was a beauty that melted through all her barriers and I saw her become that beauty as she rediscovered her innocence in the cleansing of her tears. Similarly, ‘Believe’ was a direct plea to a friend to find himself and let go of the pain of his past that seemed to be drowning him.

I Hold You Close (Track 2), Presence (Track 7)

‘I Hold You Close’ and ‘Presence’ are romantic love songs delighting in the unity of duality and the sharing of oneself openly and completely with another person. They’re about the balance and artistry of finding peace and trust within a relationship. The interesting thing is that these songs were written before I met my true love to whom I am now married, and yet, in a way I can’t help feeling it was to her I was calling all along, letting the universe know exactly what I was looking for as relationships with less commitment dissolved.

Angels In Expression (Track 3), Magic (Track 4), Journey of Discovery (Track 5), I Am The Wind (Track 6), Being Free (Track 11)

Here is the background of my adventures in brief. I was invited to a number of gatherings of the Waitaha (Originally a native tribe in Aotearoa who now embrace all people who can say ‘the earth does not belong to us, we belong to the earth’). Native American Indians from Canada arrived spontaneously during a ritual circle. A friend invited me to go to Canada. I became a stone carrier and in Canada passed on the stone to a young man I happened to meet. He turned out to be the nephew of one of the two Native Americans I had met fleetingly back in Aotearoa six moths before. A day or two after that a Maori woman appeared who had married a Native American Indian and she gave me a piece of ponamu (greenstone) to wear round my neck. I wore it to South America and gave it to a man who was sad because he had a daughter in Aotearoa he had lost contact with due to a marital break-up. He asked me to tell his daughter that he loved her if we ever met. By chance, a year later, his daughter turned up on my doorstep needing a place to stay through a friend of a friend and I was able to put her back in touch with her Dad. As the miracle of one event unfolded into the next I wrote these songs realising there must be many ancestors and spirit guides working with us all - angels of earth.

Like a Butterfly (Track 9)

While travelling in Venezuela I met a young man called Daniel Villa-Lobos who was a brilliant dancer and also a songwriter. When we first met, I liked him so much I gave him an amethyst crystal that had been given to me in Canada. The next time I saw him I asked him if he could help me find words to music that I had written a few years before after my step-father John died tragically in an avalanche on mount Ruapehu. I had been so upset that I couldn’t find words to express my grief. I played Daniel the music on my guitar without telling him what it was about. He looked at me and said “You’re not going to believe this, but the night after you gave me the crystal I put it on my alter and wrote this song which I think will fit your music perfectly.” My mouth dropped open and I began to cry as I read the words to ‘Like a Butterfly’ which were an exact reflection of my feelings surrounding the loss of John. Daniel looked at me and simply said: “They are your words”. How could someone on the other side of the world who I hardly knew be so precise? As you can imagine we became good friends.

Waitakere Tears (Track 8)

When I returned home I fully appreciated my spiritual connection with Aotearoa in a whole new way. I made many new friends, most of whom had realised everything that I had without having to travel halfway around the world! I got involved with a local community group working to clean up steams in Waitakere City and we used this song as part of a video to educate children in schools about the preciousness of our environment.

To conclude I would like to say a special thankyou to my wife Natarani Theobald who plays the cello. Blessing Biran (my sister-in-law) and Laurie Ross (my mother-in-law) for their supporting vocals on Magic. Kirsten Darragh who is the main supporting vocalist, Margaret Jackson who plays the violin, Anna Maitland who plays the flute, Sika who plays the dijeridoo, Miles Jackson for his recording and my parents Margaret McLaren and Alex Witten-Hannah for their sponsorship and love. It’s only with a lot of support and dedication that we can grow the wings of love!
